My collegiate goals are to play baseball and earn a degree in Sports Business. I have been committed to playing baseball for over ten years, and one of my main athletic goals is to play at the college level. As a student, I work hard in the classroom to meet my goals. As an athlete, I am consistently practicing to improve my skills, while focusing on the team first. I persevered through the loss of my dad, Corporal Christopher J. Boyd, when he was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010 while serving with the United States Marine Corps. His sacrifice has pushed me to work hard and be my best on and off the field.
Throughout the years, I’ve been cut multiple times from teams and have been able to bounce back to make the teams later. I work hard year-round, playing fall ball, and travel ball, practicing with the school and travel teams in the winter, and playing in the spring. I umpire as my job, staying surrounded by baseball and training in my free time. I have a strong on-field IQ, mental toughness, and am known as a leader by my coaches and teammates. I’ve created a fall ball team with players from school to play against older teams, including JUCO athletes. Since I was 9, I've been playing up at least a level to face better competition, whether it was in-house or travel.
Academically, my grades have always been a priority for me. I average As and Bs in my classes, with a goal of above a 4.0 (out of 5) GPA every semester.
