My name is Owen Piazza, and I am a 2023 graduate of Sycamore High School. During my high school career, I played 3 years on the varsity team and was an all-conference athlete. Of my many accolades in high school, I can proudly say I was the pitcher that threw a shutout in the super-sectionals, securing our high schools first and only Illinois state appearance in 2023.
My first year in college was spent at Top 25 ranked Aurora University (D3). As a freshman I had a 4-0 record with a 4.18 ERA in 28 innings pitched. I had 35 strikeouts with 13 walks, with a BAA of .218 in 14 appearances. My fastball would sit at 87-90MPH, topping out at 91MPH occasionally.
Since May 2024, I have been enrolled in the remote training program at Premier Pitching Performance (PPP) out of St. Louis, MO. I have been working with Cody Fick, the Director of Pitching. Although I train remotely, I have worked out at the St. Louis facility twice to be assessed and understand where I need to improve.
While on this program I was able to throw 90 in a bullpen setting and improve my pulldown PR from 94 to 97 in 3 months. Unfortunately, this November, before I got a chance to see my work pay off against outside competition, I tore my UCL, requiring Tommy John surgery. The surgery will happen on January 21st with Dr. Brian Cole. I will be rehabbing with PT Jason Robinson. These next few months I will be working harder than ever to come back better than ever.
Right now I have 3 years of eligibility left and I'm looking for a place to spend them. I would be extremely grateful for an opportunity to join your college baseball program. I know that I am going to do everything I can to recover from this setback and have no doubt I'll come back better than before and be a valuable addition to the team in the Spring of 2026.
Academically, I am a Business Administration major and have maintained a near 4.0 GPA throughout my time at Aurora.
