James Talavage '21 Recruiting Profile

I am interested in pursuing a career in the field of engineering. I would like to study this because math and science have always been my strongest subjects in school. Also, my parents are engineers and introduced me to methodological problem solving when I was young, including my four years of experience at the VEX IQ World Championships.  I would most likely major in either, mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering, with a focus on continuing to excel academically.

I have always been easy to coach, and set an example through a strong work ethic. I am generally serious while practicing and playing, noting this tends to lead to my being a quiet leader. I enjoy putting in the necessary effort to get better, particularly when given a target to which my methodical approach can push me. As a student-athlete, I expect to be able to balance both athletics and academics, as I have always found it easy to keep the two separate, putting all of my focus into what I am doing at the moment, in the classroom or on the field.
