Jhonny Gonzalez '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jhonny Gonzalez and I am a 17-year-old student-athlete from Panama. I just graduated from “Escuela Fernando de Lesseps high school”, where I played baseball and graduated with a Bachelors's in accounting due to my interests in finance and mathematics. Currently studying at Universidad de Panama  (second year in academics.) Playing soccer for University of Panama and Baseball.It is very important to me to be a baseball athlete because it is one of my biggest passions. Additionally, being a student always comes first since I wish for a better and successful future. Furthermore, I have learned how to balance academics and baseball by going to school in the morning and doing my 3-4 hour baseball training in the afternoon. I began to play baseball when I was 7 years old in small pre-infantil/infantil leagues, progressing to more advanced leagues and to a high-performance Juvenile league.  I have 11 years of baseball experience playing for " nuevo chorrillo baseball league", " Academia Los Alcones" "Sub U14", "SubU 15", my High School "Escuela Fernando de Lesseps", along with the Juvenile baseball league. My main position is shortstop and my secondary is second base. Furthermore, I was drafted for the “Juvenil Panama Oeste 2021”. I can run 30 yards in 3.81 seconds and 60 yards in 6.6 seconds. I would love to continue my baseball career at a collegiate level to continue learning and training in the sport I love.  My experience, training, and dedication have helped me win many championship trophies, achieve awards as best hitter and best runner, along with the most valuable player in competitions. With the help of God,  my trainers, coaches, my efforts to excel in my sport by giving 100% on the field, and my discipline as a student-athlete,  I have had the opportunity to be selected to travel to Costa Rica and represent my country,  Panama, to play as "jugador titular" at friendlies international games and enjoyed it. My goal is to be able to learn English and play at the maximum level of baseball and earn a four-year degree in Finance. I am committed to growth and currently hold a 4.0 GPA out of 5. I believe that my dedication and work ethic would make me a strong candidate for your University as well as your team.
