Connor Ireland '25 Recruiting Profile

As a two-sport athlete I have learned a lot about myself through hockey and baseball.  Each sport has taught me a lot of life lessons on the ice and on the field. In hockey I was part of teams that have to function and work together to succeed as each player has specific skills that consists of either defense/offense or stopping the puck. We all had our own skill and when we trusted each other and worked together, we succeeded as one team.  In Baseball it is a team sport, but it does have individual skills that can help teammates like baseball IQ, running, hitting, catching and throwing. Being a part of both sports has taught me to respect my teammates, coaches, officials and the other players that I am competing against on the ice or on the field.  The discipline and respect I have learned from both sports will give me the life skills outside of sports to succeed.

I have been an assistant captain in hockey, I am committed to continuing the same work ethic during a practice as in competition and strive to improve my leadership skills to help my team.  I was awarded the Citizen Award multiply times in elementary school and was presented the Gail Agnew Memorial Award for the REP baseball player who best demonstrates desire, effort, ability, sportsmanship with teammates, opponents and respect to the game of baseball. Most recently on my 2024 travel team, I was awarded the John Jepson Award, this awarded to player who exemplifies the qualities such as Generosity of spirit, Being a great teammate, Sportsmanship, Dedication to Improvement and Academic Achievement.

My grades have always been very important to me, as I have always appreciated the opportunity to being a student-athlete. In College I want to prepare myself to succeed in life after sports and my high school course load has helped me to prepare for the challenges of balancing college academics and baseball for my future.
