  • Dylan Schultz is a 2020 3B/RHP, 1B with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Marion, IA who attends Linn-Mar. Medium frame, solid build with beginnings of strength. Primary third baseman with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while ranging to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball from a slightly deeper position. Developing fluidity while working through exchanges. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot creating some carry across the infield, topped at 72 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and large leg lift trigger. Lower half works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended barrel path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Flashed some strength and bat speed when front side trigger was on time. Primarily worked to the middle of the field and flashed solid jump off the barrel to pull side. Also pitched showing a simple, repeatable side step delivery with a compact, over the top arm slot. Gathers well and balance prior to working to the plate with drop and drive actions. Fastball flashed downhill angle through the zone in the mid 60's to low 70's, topped at 74 miles per hour. Curveball had loose spin with occasional depth when located down in the strike zone. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a changeup offering that showed occasional wiggle in the upper 50's. Consistently filled the strike zone with developing feel to each edge of the plate. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
