Stephen and Andrew Dozier have been key members of the Harlan County High School baseball team since the school opened during the 2008-2009 school year following the merger of Cawood, Cumberland and Evarts high schools.
The Dozier brothers grew up around the game and played in the Harlan Little League where they participated in all-star tournaments at every level. Their father, Phillip, has been president of the Harlan Little League for many years, which meant the Dozier boys were involved in baseball at a very young age and continue to assist as teenagers.
Both played on the James A. Cawood middle school team, finishing as conference runner-up in 2008, before moving to the high school level.
Stephen moved into the starting lineup at first base as a sophomore and has been a steadying influence in the middle of the HCHS lineup while playing solid defense. He hit .266 last season with seven doubles. He also tied for a team high with two triples.
