Personal Statement
I love to play the game of baseball. There is nothing better than competing on the diamond. Focus, determination, and hard work are defined in everything I do. I take as much pride in my academic work as my baseball. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA going into my sophomore year and plan to maintain that through the rest of high school and into my college career.
I started playing baseball at the early age of 4, but did not truly start to love the game until I started playing competitively in travel summer baseball. My first year was tough, at the age of 9, due to my always being the younger player but in the midst of disappointments I have remained persistent and have been playing varsity/junior varsity baseball since seventh grade. I am now a confident, well balanced player that loves to pitch. I pitch and bat right handed as well as play short stop or second base. I play wherever my coach feels that I am needed. Baseball has always felt natural to me.
I would like to explore computer science/programming in college. I am looking for a place with a quality education as well as a quality baseball team. On the field, I plan to be hard working and a positive influence on whatever team I play. As I grow, both mentally and physically, through my college years, I will be a strong contributor for the pitching rotation, infield, and batting line up. My parents have always been positive people who support me in many ways. They have taught me to be respectful, honest, hard working and a team player. I know teamwork is a critical part of success and a source of invaluable support and friendships. I am willing to make sacrifices by pushing harder and putting in the extra work to be successful in the classroom and on the field.
In closing, I would like to assure college coaches that I am a hard worker. I strive to be a better player, student, and overall person everyday. I listen to my coaches and feel I have the tools to impact your program.
