Personal Statement

Coach, thank you very much for reading my profile. I've loved the game of baseball my whole life, and want to become a member of your team.  All I need is an opportunity to show you.  I'm ready to work hard and do my part sir.

Playing sports has given me a competitive outlook on life. I know that I have to put the same amount of effort into studying as I do on the field.  I plan to raise my GPA my senior year and also get a higher ACT score because I know scholarships are limited for baseball.

I am able to play any position other than pitcher, but my best position is catcher.  What sets me apart from other catchers is my wide frame that helps me shift and frame pitches so well.  Since I have a big body runners may not expect me to be able to move quickly on balls in the dirt or outside the strike zone.  In my training I emphasize footwork,  being able to explode toward the base.  When I pop up I strive to quickly get my feet set so I am able to make strong, accurate throws.  I don't want my opponents manufacturing runs that I could prevent.

I struggled my junior season at the plate after having a standout sophomore season.   I was over-eager and lunging towards the ball, hitting off of my front foot a lot.  I still managed to hit 3 home runs, compared with 1 last season.  This summer while on Kentucky Baseball Club I worked hard at staying balanced and waiting for the ball to get to me. I anticipate my summer and upcoming fall work to translate into a much better senior year at the plate.

I plan to major in something relating to Sports Medicine/Physical Education.  My interests outside of baseball are fishing, golf, basketball, and lifting weights.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
