Personal Statement

My goals are to be accepted to college and  to be a valuable player on the baseball team.  I have a positive attitude and I am also a great leader/ teammate .  Most of all I love playing the game of baseball.  I am always trying my best no matter what the score is. Off the field and in the classroom I try my best to achieve good grades and be the best student I can.

  • Jake is an athletic 2021 grad who continued to improve his ability at the plate during our Accelerated Hitting Camp. He has an Athletic setup from both sides of the plate, creates good rhythm and is a very consistent switch hitter. He is very balanced and uses his lower 1/2 very well. Jake will continue to work on his swing path to stay more compact and his weight transfer from the left side of the plate.

  • Jake is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Winter Classic. At the plate, Jake sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is smooth getting back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing to the ball with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Jake can improve as a hitter by loading more and by getting more hand separation. Overall, Jake is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

  • Jake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.35 runner. In the OF, defensive abilities are now well above average as he is aggressive in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (80 mph velocity) on his throws. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved, now showing well above average abilities as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but projects best as a RHH where he has improved the most. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered.
