Personal Statement
Even from an early age, I have always felt most comfortable on the baseball field. I always strive to become a better teammate as well improve in my baseball skills. My experiences in baseball have taught me the importance of teamwork. I believe the true essence of baseball is all individuals doing what one can to better the team to help achieve its goals. I have played around many great teammates who have had more skill then me, but all that does is inspire me to improve on the talents that I have been given. As a 12 year old at Cooperstown, I proved to myself I could play with good competition. Each year as the competition has become better, I rely on that experience to spur me on to excel at each level. As a result, this past year I led both my high school and summer team in hitting (.500 and .418 respectively) as I lead off for both teams. Along with my hitting, my fielding would be a valuable asset for any team as I can play equally well at shortstop and second base.
My baseball experiences have also helped me in the academic area as I set goals for myself as well as the field of study I want to pursue. Those experiences have influenced me to set goals and demonstrate a positive attitude and qualities good leaders possess. I want to achieve over a 4.2 GPA throughout my high school career. If I am not playing sports, mainly baseball, I am doing homework, projects and any other school activities. Participating in the engineering program at Severna Park High School is already preparing me for the next academic level. I want to pursue an engineering degree at a college in the eastern part of the country.
I believe my experiences have and will prepare me for the next level.
