Personal Statement
Baseball has always been a staple in my life. My family is constantly watching baseball, talking baseball, or playing baseball. I can't remember exactly when I fell in love with the game, because it has always been a part of my life. "Living room baseball" was my favorite game as a toddler. I used plastic bowling pins as a bat and loved hitting the ball off the walls. As I grew older, the game became more challenging, but my enthusiasm never diminished.
Baseball has taught me how to approach life and roll with the punches. It is a game of failure, and I have learned to bounce back from all kinds of challenges in baseball and life. I've not always been the star player or the go-to guy, so I am motivated to work harder, improve, and not give up, no matter the circumstances. I truly enjoy the process of baseball; practice, drills, games, and teamwork. I especially enjoy learning about all the potential situations that could arise in a game and how to react to them.
I love being a part of a team and doing what it takes to win together. I have been fortunate to be a part of many great teams. One of my fondest memories was being the starting catcher on the Great Lakes team (Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores) for the 2018 Little League World Series in Williamsport. Playing catcher on such a big stage taught me how to keep my focus and not be easily distracted by nerves and everything else surrounding the moment.
I am proud of my work ethic in regards to academics. Being a successful student-athlete is my number one goal. Therefore, I challenge myself with honors courses and hold myself to a high standard. I plan to study finance and/or law in college and would love to play baseball while I pursue those goals.
