Personal Statement
I’ve played baseball for as long as I can remember, but it was in 4th grade when I truly began to love it. I was able to start seeing and understanding details like situational hitting and what to do in specific defensive situations. Also that year, I began playing travel baseball. Travel baseball not only provided more playing time but helped me improve my game and mental toughness. I’ve learned to focus my emotions when the game is tight. For example, when my 14U team was down by one run in the final inning of championship game at Grand Haven, I hit a triple as the lead off batter which changed the momentum of the game and we ended up winning the tournament. This summer, my team played in the Grand Valley Invitational and I had a walk off single to win the game in the quarter finals. Something else that I can bring to a team is being a great teammate. I’ve been on multiple teams and was able to get along with everyone. I value hard work, honesty and humility and I try to bring those qualities to each team I play for. For the rest of high school I plan to continue playing three sports: football, basketball, baseball, and maintain a 3.7 GPA. Although I’m leaning towards a business major in college, I want to go to a mid to large size school so that I have plenty of options should I decide to change my major without having to change schools.
