Dear Recruiter,
I believe I am a great fit to your program because my number one goal is a team win every time I step on the field, however I know most recruiters are looking to see the personal achievements first so I'll share that info right away. I have recently received Second Team All-State, All-Region, All-District and All-Conference and apparently I was the top vote getter in the region, district and conference, however I would much rather be playing for a State title rather than losing a heart breaker in the district championship game. My junior season stats for Unity Christian High School were: 130 AB, 56H, .430 BA, 32 SB's, 10 2B's, 45 RS, only 5K's (zero K's in conference in 95 AB's).
I feel that I'm different from other recruits because I would rather play my secondary position and win rather than play my primary position and lose. My thought is if it makes our team better by me playing out of my favorite position, then I'm all for it. I am a very versatile player and have played nearly every position and value certain aspects of each one. I'm far from perfect, but nine times out of ten I will display my Christian Values on and off the field. I have been blessed with playing on some talented teams and played in 4 state championship games ages 10-14. One year we came one game away from going to the World Series. Last year our Westside Smash 16U team was ranked 9th in the state of Michigan (per www.travelbaseballrankings.com) and after a couple strong tourneys this year our Westside Smash 17U should be ranked even higher. I’m looking to play for championships consistently during my college playing years (it's what fuels me). I want a program that has a winning tradition, recruits winners and takes training in the off-season very serious.
I take my education very seriously because I know baseball is temporary and getting a great education will help me in my career after baseball. I also love to educate myself in baseball. I'm a student of the game and addicted to training. I train during the winters at Cage 52 with Travis Webb (Atlanta Braves Scout) in Grand Rapids, MI doing CST/ADV strength training and all year around at PowerStrength Training Systems (with Brian Paulsen) where they have me doing baseball specific strength training. I also have a weekly hitting lesson throughout the winter to perfect my swing. I have a passion to make others around me better so I lead my travel teammates in CST/ADV training twice a week in the Spring/Summer to help with arm care/strength, core training and increase our quickness.
I believe I could bring strong leadership and so many other intangibles to your team and would love to have you come watch me play the game that I am so passionate for. On a side note, I decided to pick up Tennis when I was a sophomore to stay well rounded and work on my foot work. My junior season I was All-State Honorable Mention and my doubles partner and I took 2nd in the state, losing in the 3rd set in the state championship match.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss a workout/visit to your university.
Sincerely,
Jake McNamara
