My name is Trevor Hulvey. I am 6’, 175 pounds and a senior at Stevenson High School in Sterling Heights, MI. I have been a utility player over the last few years, with a focus on infield positions, most recently 3rd base. Over the last 10 years, I have played multiple sports including soccer and basketball; however, baseball has always been the sport that I have been most driven toward and where I have pushed myself to be successful both as an individual and as a key member of the team. I’m extremely fortunate to be a part of a highly competitive and very skilled program at Stevenson and proud of having received the Varsity Award for the past two years. I have realized the type of leadership and dedication it takes to go the distance. Having gone out in Districts during my sophomore year, I was driven to work hard in the off-season to further develop myself to be a stronger member of the team. As a junior this past season, winning Regionals was a highlight of my baseball career. Going out during the quarter-finals was difficult; however, has driven me to continue to work hard and focus not only during the summer season but also as I think about the off-season leading up to spring 2018. I have in my head and heart to come back and help lead my varsity team to another District, Regional and maybe even State Championship.
Over the last two years, I have pushed myself not only in baseball, but also academically. My grade point average has improved over the last two years through my dedication to be better. Through focused research, I have realized that I am most interested in attending a smaller college where the student to teacher ratio is better than 30:1 to allow me to learn and grow in a more personalized environment. I want to study physical therapy with the ultimate goal of achieving my D.P.T. and feel that an undergraduate degree from a smaller college would serve me the best in achieving my goal. My research has drawn me to Division III-level baseball programs and I have found that there are many strong programs within Michigan that could complement my undergraduate studies in physical therapy. Although I have been focused on research within Michigan, I am also open to small schools/programs outside of Michigan. I am open to Christian-based colleges as I have Catholic and Lutheran influences in my life and would welcome the strong structure and support provided through that environment. I have been actively involved in community support over the last five years and would like to continue that type of activity during my college studies.
I look forward to exploring how my hard work and dedication will complement your baseball program.
