Personal Statement
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamed of playing baseball at a higher level than most other people get to. I was brought up being told that Sports was a simulation of life. The more you put in, the more you are going to get out. I am blessed to be able to play the best sport in the world and wish I could play it forever. But, with the nature of the sport and most sports, you aren’t able to. I’m undecided on my major but have interest in psychology due to how I enjoy looking at behavior, giving advice, and using my problem solving skills to help people.
Athletically, I am very coachable. I am a “sponge” with information and have had a large amount of coaches that I can take bits of the information they give me and apply them to my game. My best quality is my brain and my baseball intelligence. Other qualities include my silent leadership and my drive to succeed. From a skills standpoint, I have the pitching abilities to do well but when I am having a bad day, I can excel using my head to analyze hitters and memorize sequences that I apply each time I pitch.
In school, I am seen as respectful and caring by teachers. I’m outgoing and try to always have a smile each day. Academics have come quite easy to me but going into my senior year, I decided to challenge myself with two college classes and a tough Calculus class. My favorite classes are gym classes due to my competitive nature and love of physical activity.
With all that being said, I am still quite young and can be seen as immature due to my age. I believe that my age has given me a chance to improve in a college program and in a setting most other 17-18 year olds don’t see until they’re 19-20. I’d be a great fit for a program with a competitive nature and strong team identity.
