Personal Statement
My name is Ben Taxdahl, I am 6'1'' and weigh 195 pounds. I am a 2021 graduate. I hit and throw right-handed. I have been playing baseball all my life, and I love nothing more than to compete on the diamond.
I’ve grown up playing all different positions. As a result, I have been able to develop a strong understanding of the details (Baseball IQ) of the game. In the past year, I have focused on positions that align my physical strengths and skills. That has led me to further refine my pitching skills which have resulted in becoming a dominant pitcher. When I’m not on the mound, I play corner outfield or first base.
Two of my most valuable assets are not reflected in the numbers or videos derived at showcases. These two assets are more reflective of who I am as a person. These consist of my strong work ethic (on and off the field) and the ability to ‘compete’ on the field until the last out.
I attend high school at Saint Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, MN. Saint Thomas Academy is a college preparatory institution. My high school is also an all-male, military-focused, and faith-based institution. There is no other school like it in the state of Minnesota, and its curriculum is one of the most difficult in the state. I have always excelled in math and science and want to apply those strengths to my field of study. I expect to major in either business or engineering.
My year-round baseball training takes place at Minnesota Mash in Eagan, MN. It is my second home. Their facilities, coaches, and programs are exceptional. They provide an environment to excel in all areas of baseball, performance training, and mental conditioning. I have been a part of this club since the age of 10. Since that time, I have played all my summer and fall seasons on their club teams winning many local, regional and national tournaments. My body of work over the years within MN Mash, whether it be in the gym or on the field, validates the strong work ethic and the ability to compete at all levels.
