Personal Statement
I have been interested in watching and playing sports from a very young age. A love of sports analysis also developed early, and I currently have a sports YouTube channel with hundreds of followers. My parents have instilled in me the value of hard work in both athletics and academics, as they are both physically disciplined and hold advanced degrees.
My love of baseball started as soon as I was old enough to play, as I soon found that I had some natural abilities (most notably with respect to pitching). I live in a competitive area for baseball, and I always enjoy and get excited to pitch in important games. I have learned that I thrive under pressure, and have also learned that I have the mental toughness, confidence, poise, determination, competitiveness and smarts to pitch well. I have also experienced my share of bad outings, but have the ability to bounce back and learn. All of these traits have led to coaches identifying me as a leader, and have helped me in other areas of my life.
My experiences in baseball have taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance and learning from failure. I work out for several hours a day to reach full potential, which will make me a completely different player than when I started high school. I am always working to get stronger and throw better. I work equally hard in school and have maintained a high GPA with both honors and AP classes. I will continue to put forth maximal effort through the rest of high school and in college.
