Personal Statement
- My name is Ben Kehner, a 16 year old, multi sport, 5'10", 220lb junior at Spring Lake Park High School in Spring Lake Park Minnesota. I'm a well rounded baseball player with my strongest skills as a right handed pitcher; my ERA has been under 2.0 the past two years, I average 1.5 strikeouts per inning and my average fastball is 81mph. I'm also a starting offensive lineman on our Panther football team, participate in year round weight room having achieved our 700 Pound club, and compete in Knowledge Bowl during the winter, having lettering in these activities.
- And while baseball is my passion, I firmly believe I am the sum of my parts which has made me a better person, student, teammate and athlete. Academically, I was accepted into the Lighthouse School for gifted and talented in second grade and began earning high school credits in third grade. Because of this opportunity I have essentially completed high school and began taking dual credit, general classes, full time this fall at Concordia University in St.Paul. Our school athletic programs go above and beyond by focusing on commitment, service and doing the work both on and off the field. We are tasked with building strong bodies, minds and character everyday. Personally, I am thankful for my family, teachers, coaches and teammates, all providing me with encouragement, support and the opportunity to be a leader on a daily basis.
- Overall I am looking for a college experience that will allow me to continue to excel academically, continue to develop as a baseball player, grow as person and prepare me for what comes in life beyond my degree.
