Ryan Mottley '21 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing sports my entire life. The time of year dictated what sport I was playing; fall was football, winter was basketball, and spring and summer were always baseball.  Since I spent most of the year playing baseball, it became my passion and I showed more talent in this sport than any other. 

I began playing baseball at the age of seven playing on a kid pitch team with older players.  By the time I was twelve, I was playing on a travel team consisting of players from the tri-state area, traveling to destinations such as Maryland, Delaware, and as far away as Georgia. 

I play both football and baseball in high school and can be described as a hardworking leader on both teams.  Although I enjoy football, my hope is to continue my baseball career at the collegiate level.  I have played varsity baseball since my sophomore season, becoming an everyday starter halfway through the season. Unfortunately, my junior season was sidelined due to the Coronavirus.  Although there was no organized baseball during this time, I continued working hard at developing my skills by working on my pitching and hitting in the cage. 

In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. My family is important to me, and I have a large number of extended family in the area that I enjoy spending time with.  Because of this, I would prefer to stay within a four or five hour radius when I attend college, although finding the right fit is ultimately most important.
