Connor Usowski '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Connor Usowski and I am a left handed pitcher and first baseman. I attend Port Byron Central School in Port Byron NY. I have been playing baseball since tee-ball at age 5. I love to learn new things about the game and gain knowledge of the game through practice and competitions. Playing for Syracuse Sports Zone Academy pushes me to play at a higher competition level which gives me an advantage over others. It helped me make the varsity high school team in 8^th grade,  where I started most games at pitcher or first base. My team made it to the Sectional Championship, where I pitched and struck out seniors on the opposing team that were committed to D1 colleges. The opposing teams coaches personally came over and congratulated me at the end of the game for my pitching, which was a very proud moment for me.  Unfortunately we lost in extra innings but it was a great experience for my first year on varsity. 

Based on the successful season, I was awarded the All League First Team. 

 In the off season I routinely work with my pitching and hitting coaches, and have weekly indoor league practices and games, to continuously develop and improve my skills.

I am a leader on the field and an instrumental member of the various teams I have played on, and will continue to push myself to perform at my best.

 Off the field, I live and work on a small farm and help my dad with his heavy equipment business. This has taught me discipline and time management and will help me as I grow as a player and student.

My mom and dad are very supportive of both me and my brother. We play multiple school sports throughout the year as well as travel baseball year round, making life a bit crazy and hectic at times. I can always count on them to be at all my games and cheering me on. 

My work ethic, skills and dedication to the game will help me and my future team mates succeed.

 I look forward to the future  at a college where I can excel academically and athletically.
