Ever since I was young, I had a passion for playing baseball. I was always one of the youngest players in my divisions, but I never felt that was a hinderance to my ability to play the sport. It took a lot of practice and hard work to work my way to the top and in my final 3 years of playing Little League, I made it on to the All-Star team. I felt that my involvement in competitive swimming is what pushed me over the edge and made me into the athlete I am today. As an 8th grader, I made my way on to the varsity swim team at Suffern High School and excelled in the 100m and 200m freestyle. The long practices and strength training gave me the tools necessary to hit a total of 32 home runs in my final 2 years of Little League.
I am primarily a corner outfielder and play 1B when it is needed on the team. I have worked to become an even stronger pitcher throwing both 2 & 4-seam fastballs, changeup, curveball and slider. In 2017, I finished my freshman season with the 2nd highest batting average (.479) and finished with the team's lowest ERA (2.02). In the summer of 2017, I batted a .429, had a .549 OBP, .625 SLG% and pitched to a 3.87 ERA over 7 games with 31 strikeouts. For 2018, I batted a .515, had an OBP of .679 and a SLG% of .698 and was called up at the end of the season to the varsity team to help out for the post season. This year, I have made my way in to the starting lineup as one of two juniors to break through on a team of 12 seniors and have started the season off very strong with 7 hits and 10 RBIs over 4 games.
I am looking forward to competing at the next level of the sport and am ready for any challenge that is thrown my way. I have been told that I am a very coachable player and I welcome all criticisms and use them to better myself in the sport. Both of my parents were college athletes and have always instructed me to follow my heart. My father has always told me that you need to have a love of the game in order to continue playing and the moment that love is gone, is when you hang it up. Thankfully, through the love and support of my parents, and the drive from my coaches, that love for baseball will stay in my heart for a very long time. It is this passion for the sport that drives my desire to become not only a better athlete, but an exceptional student at whichever school I decide to attend after graduation.
