Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Johnson. I am 17 years old, and I am going into my senior year of High School. I am 5"10' 185 pounds and i have average speed. I have been playing baseball since I could walk, and it has been such a big role in my life. Baseball is my passion, and it is my dream to play at the next level and beyond. It always has been. I am a middle infielder, and I can also play the outfield if it is needed. I am a great hitter, I can drive in key runs late in games, drive the ball deep for a sacrifice and all those key situations. I have 13 years of experience playing baseball, and I have seen many coaches to help me with my hitting, fielding, running, etc... I have loved baseball ever since I started playing. It is just my passion to play. My Junior year of High School, I hit .463, with 26 RBI's, 2 Homeruns, and I made 1st team All-State and I got the MVP award at my school. It was definately my best year of baseball, because I could hit the ball almost every other at bat, and just about every hit was an RBI. We only played 17 games in the season too. I have been a varsity starter for 3 years. I have been a starting shortstop since I was a freshman, Sophmore and Junior. My Freshman and Sophmore years of baseball, I got the sportsmanship award because I am a good sport. Every time one of my teamates would make an error, I would say "Keep your head up and get the next one." If an umpire made a bad call, I would just walk back to the dugout on a bad call for a strike, or a bad call in the field I wouldnt let it get to me and I would just go for the next play. I am a hard worker, and I will do whatever it takes to get the job done. On my Junior year, we didn't have captains or anything like that, but if we had to, I would say that I was a leader, because I was a leader on and off the field. I would help my teamates with where to go on the next play, show them how to hit, and all the fundamentals. When we were in game situations I would be getting everybody off the bench to talk it up for the batter at the plate, and staying in the game if we were down by a few runs or so. It is my dream to play baseball at the next level in college, and I am always going to work hard to do my best and get to where i need to be. I will work, work, work for what needs to be done. I am interested in going to a college wherever I can. I am open to all schools around the United States, and am willing to play baseball. I have not really figured out what I want to major in for college yet, but I have been thinking about somewhere along the lines of Athletic Training or something sports related, because sports are my life. They always have been. My goals for college baseball are to be a starter from Freshman year, to be a good clutch hitter on the team and help the team out if we are down, playing at the highest competition as possible, because I love playing against other players that are better, because then I can just learn from that and it only makes me better as an individual. I am also a great student in the classroom as well. I always do my homework, try hard on every test i take, and my GPA right now in High School is a 3.3 and I get High Honors every year. I am a hard worker at everything I do, and I am going to keep on working hard at whatever I do in the future, especially at baseball, because baseball is my Passion.
