Always having played with kids that have been one or two years older, has really set me up to be the competitive athlete I am today. At age 8, I moved from optimist ball which I had played since I was 3, to travel baseball, starting on a 10u team. The competitive spirit of the older kids that I played with and against, made me find out quickly that not everything will be handed to me. I would say this is one of the reasons, along with coaches not always believing I was as good as the older kids, that has pushed me to be the athlete I am now. Over the last few years I have competed on several local teams and also a National team. The thing that I have learned the most through my experiences in travel/showcase ball is that baseball sometimes comes easier to others, yet I have overcame many odds by working hard and just playing the amazing game that I love. In my game, I feel like I excel at being a leader by action, good attitude, no matter the scenario on the field, my ability to make good relationships with new teammates and coaches, and lastly, my ability to just do the fundamentals of the game.
High school, the make it or break it for student athletes everywhere, is the place where you learn and work for the GPA you desire and to get the basis for the higher education we pursue. In high school I will be pursuing Marketing and Business classes, yet I while also be getting the basic core classes for any field in the work industry. I will be working to obtain a 4.8 GPA throughout high school in hopes of getting a scholarship for baseball while obtaining a higher education at a four year college best fit for me.
