Personal Statement

I have been in love with baseball since I started going to my dad’s games when I was only two years old. Baseball has shaped many of the key characteristics that have made me the athlete I am today. The work ethic baseball has given me has not only been praised by different baseball coaches I’ve had, but also my football coaches, hockey coaches, and many of the teachers I’ve had throughout my high school career. Growing up, I always played for the Brantford Red Sox tier one team. However, in 2016 I decided to take my abilities to the next level and play ball at the elite level with the Tri City Giants. During 2017, I played both Tri City as well as Brantford. I was starting short stop for both teams, as well as my high school varsity team. That year I was awarded MVP for Brantford and the Tri City Giants. This year, I played high school baseball as well as Tri City and achieved MVP for both teams. I am fortunate enough to have parents that provide me with a gym in our basement and a YMCA membership that has allowed me to train as much as possible. I have always had a fantastic rapport with teammates and coaches, and I enjoy being a part of any group that works hard towards a common goal. I am excited to continue my studies and play ball at the college level and develop as a player and student.

  • 3/31/18 to 3/31/18
  • A 5-foot-10, 140-pound 2019 grad who will add mass to his frame as he continues to mature. Lacks some balance from the left side but shows quick hands through the zone and some athleticism. Line drive approach, Lupton brings his knees together during his load and brings his hands back into a proper launching position. Shows some fluidity in his movement in both the infield and outfield, quick transfers and the ball comes out of his hand cleanly with some carry. With added strength, Lupton will be able to take his game to the next level.
  • Camp/Event
  • PBR showcase
  • 2/19/18 to 2/19/18
  • A long and lanky 2019 grad with room to fill out and add size. From the left side of the plate, Lupton has a line-drive approach, brings his knees together during the load and drives bat through the zone with a flat swing path. Hands work quickly, gets full extension on the swing. Shows a good feel for fielding, be it in the infield or the outfield. Shows some athleticism, clean arm action, and the ball comes out of the hand naturally and gets some carry. Overall Lupton is a fluid fielder who has great feel with proper footwork, as he continues to get stronger and add more muscle, his bat will catch up.
  • Camp/Event
  • PBR showcase
  • 10/22/17 to 10/22/17
  • Lupton is a 2019 grad who has room to add strength gains to his 5-foot-9 frame. Left-handed bat that hits from a crouched, balanced position, hands are quiet with minimal movement, looks to stay inside baseball with short, level swing to contact. Average leg kick to create timing and give some power to lower half, worked mostly up the middle during BP. Defensively, had some bounce in step, worked through the ball well with clean, easy arm across the diamond that showed accuracy. Foundation for footwork and actions is there. Biggest thing for Lupton will be to continue to add strength and quickness to his game as the foundation is there for him to work with.
