Personal Statement

Though I'm a American citizen, I live in Canada and have been virtually unknown until a recent PBR showcase. I've grown a lot these past two years from 125 lbs to 180 lbs through working out and eating well. I've travelled throughout the U.S. and have family in various states, so I'm comfortable in different living situations. I have even travelled internationally on a missions trip. My goal since as long as I remember has to become a pastor and serve people. Therefore, I am looking for training to be able to minister to others. However, I have also always enjoyed playing sports, particularly baseball. To this day, I continue to play baseball because it is fun for me, but I have still tried to put in the hard work to get better.  I would like to continue playing baseball at the next level while at the same time getting an education. I realize that baseball should not be my entire life and would put my education first. What helps me standout out from others is my team-first mentality. Whenever a new or less experienced player joins my team I try to include them, and will make them my throwing partner for the year. I have also put quite a bit of work in this past off-season in basketball because I know that it is important not to overuse the same muscle groups. Hopefully you like multi-sport athletes and two-way players. People say my greatest strength is my ability to overcome adversity. If I get rocked by a hitter, I just focus on the next pitch.  My mental approach helps me to be a clutch hitter as I hit .500 with runners in scoring position last season in 150 plate appearancesI'm also switch-hitter that keeps me in games and who has a good eye at the plate because I have umpired for 5 seasons. My ability to focus has helped me win big games like against Team Missouri at the 2015 Cooperstown Dreamspark Tournament or at our provincial championships including our team winning the 2018 'A' 15U Provincial Championship.

  • 100 player field - Best changeup, Most projectable, Best Surprise! "Josiah Stairs, a 2021 left-hander was an interesting surprise as the long and lean, 6-foot-2, 175-pound southpaw jumped on the mound and was up to 85 mph from a low-¾ slot with natural action on his fastball. The delivery is still raw and will need to find consistency, but the upside with the actions, stuff, and body that is quite projectable is something coaches will need to pay attention too."
