My name is Carter Burke, I’m a 5’9 135Ib , RHP that lives in a small town called Acton, about an hour Northwest of Toronto, Ontario Canada. I live with my parents, Ryan and Leanne, my 2 sisters and our dog Marlowe. I am currently in Grade 10 (sophomore) at Christ The King Secondary School. I plan to take my ACT/SATS in the spring of 2022.
I’ve been playing baseball since I was 6 years old, and have always been coached by my dad. The past 3 years I’ve played for a local travel team called The Eagles, and have enjoyed seeing new places and meeting others that love baseball as much as I do. Our team made it to the OBA finals in the fall of 2019, narrowly losing to Northumberland. I played some of my best ball that weekend pitching 5 innings in the final game allowing only one hit, with no earned runs. Unfortunately we just couldn’t pull off the win in the end... Baseball was a bit different this year with COVID, so we lost out competing in any of our tournaments or games South of the boarder. We were only permitted a VERY modified season in July/August with us playing in a loop against Waterdown and Burlington - our team went 13-1-1 .
While many training centres were shut down, I was able to source out and train for 8 weeks with Eddie Mckiernan at the true North Field house facility in Markham, Ontario. We worked on my pitching mechanics to help improve my VELO along with a lot of weight training. After Christmas, I will continue my training at a new facility, the Ontario Royals Facility.
My fingers are crossed that 2021 will see everything opened back up again, and our 2021 dry land training season will resume in February, with our season getting underway in early May. As mentioned, my primary position is a RHP and my secondary or backup position is 3B
While I look forward to a final travel season with the Eagles, my next goal is trying out and being accepted to an Elite travel team - The Ontario Royals
I will be training hard in order to showcase my skills this upcoming June to The Ontario Royals . I plan to play with them while I complete grade 11 and 12, then off to College to play baseball and study South of the boarder.
My goal is to attend a post secondary school that has an excellent baseball program. I would like to pursue a degree in Sports and Entertainment Management while at the same time move my baseball career forward in any way possible!
When I’m not playing baseball, I like too play hockey and I’m an avid BMX biker.
I’m a self motivated, determined, over achiever. I’m coachable, and take advice and direction well. I’m a team player that is always looking for ways to not only improve myself, but also the team I’m playing for. I can get along with anyone, and one of the skill sets I’m most proud of, is how focused I stay when I’m on the mound - no matter what!
