Ethan Sutcliffe '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ethan Sutcliffe and I am a grade 10 academic student at Napanee District Secondary School.  In elementary school, I played on the school volleyball, basketball, soccer, track and cross-country teams.  In my grade 8 year, I was chosen to play on the Volleyball and Basketball All-Star Team.  Due to my high academic average, dedication, leadership and all-around athletic ability, I was given the Male Athlete of the Year.  In highschool, I played on the school volleyball team and we placed second in the Eastern Ontario Championship.  Due to Covid, I have not had the opportunity to play any other sports at the highschool level. 

I have played on travel hockey and softball teams since I was 5 years old.  Over the years, I have won numerous Provincial Championships in hockey and softball.  My greatest achievement was winning GOLD at the U14 Canadian Softball Championship.

  In 2019, I decided to join a travel hardball team.  I quit softball and hockey to devote all of my training to hardball.  I quickly fit in on my new team because I am always cheering on and trying to pick up my team, I have a great sense of humour and I am  always putting in 110% effort.  Covid has really prevented me from participating in organized training, however, I did not let that stop me from training on my own.  I set up training equipment in our barn to practice fielding, strength training and hitting over the winter months when our facilities were closed.  When the gyms finally opened, I went daily to build cardio and strength training.  I also have a batting cage in my yard that my parents put in for me and practice hitting as much as I can.   I am always trying to improve my skills and abilities and listen to coaches for feedback.

 I am currently in the Academic Program in highschool.  I have achieved an overall average of 84% for my grade 9 and 10 year.  I haven't narrowed down my preferred program of study, but I am interested in business and engineering. 

 My overall goal is to play baseball at the highest level possible, I would be an asset to any team given my strong leadership and performance skills.  You will always get my best effort both on and off the field.
