Chris Newman '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Christopher Newman and I am a grade 10 student at St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic High School in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. I live in Thornhill, Ontario, and I was born in Toronto, Ontario. I have been playing baseball since I was 3.5 years old. It is what I know and what I love. I have enjoyed playing on many different levels ranging from house league to my current Elite Team and for my high school's Varsity Team. I have enjoyed rising up through these levels of play because I keep learning new things to elevate my game and bring myself closer to my goal, which is a career in baseball. 

Not only have I been a player, I have also had the opportunity to umpire house league games for children ages 7U to 10U. This is a very rewarding experience and I enjoyed teaching these young athletes the rules of the game, and watching them at the start of their journey in the sport reminds me why I have grown to love it. I have recently been hired as an Assistant Coach for the JaysCare Foundation, which is a non-profit baseball camp run by the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Association for the summer of 2023. So when I'm not practicing or playing for my two teams, I will be coaching youngsters and umpiring their games, so that my entire spring and summer will revolve around baseball. My desire to know and understand the game from many different viewpoints has elevated my game and keeps me immersed in this sport that I love so much.
