Personal Statement

My name is Owen Lindberg im a 16 year old Canadian baseball player. My goals in baseball are to try and make it as far as i can whether that means junior college, div 3, 2 or 1. Wherever my skills take me. I feel that I am set apart from other players because im always striding to go farther and to be better at whatever I do. I also am very hard working and have deticated a lot of my time into baseball and training for it. I also play many other sports such as hockey, basketball and volleyball, i recently won the dalmeny high school MVP athlete of the year award, but my main focus and passion is baseball. I recently underwent tommy john surgery, and am 4 months into recovery as of 04/04/16.  Began throwing 2 weeks ago on a graduated schedule.

  • Club finished 2nd overall in a 10 team league. Owen was injured in Mid June with a broken small finger on his pitching hand. He missed 7 weeks of ball and returned for playoffs and the Western Canada Summer Games in Fort McMurray alberta

  • Lost the Gold Metal final to BC 7-3. I started a key round robin game for placement in the metal round against Team Alberta. I Threw a 4Hit, 5 inning 90 pitch outing, allowing 2 ER and walking 1 batter. Generated 10 ground ball outs and 5 fly ball outs. 3 DP occurred in the game as well.

  • Played several games against high school teams from the Northeast USA and Florida. Went 4-1 as a group of grade 10 15 years olds

  • The tournament went really well for me. We played 4 games and I pitched a total of 5 innings with 5 strikeouts and only 2 hits, with 1 earned run. On the stick I went 2 for 7. The team lost to garciopara, CA in the round robin 2-0 and they went on to win the 48 team tournament.

  • The academy involves playing baseball everyday under the direction of several high performance coaches. Playing time occurs from 1-3 pm each day and includes games against academies in Alberta and Saskatchewan on weekends. The academy includes players in grade 9 thru grade 12. It also includes high performance training in the winter season with professional sport specific trainers and other baseball coaches

  • The tournament featured 6 games against Team Alberta top 20 selects and Team Manitoba top 20 selects. I pitched and played middle infield in the event. My QUABS was 3 for 3 with 1 scored at the stick. Pitched 4 innings, 5 k's and no earned runs in a 5-4 win over team Manitoba. I was selected as a top 15 player from this event and asked to compete in the Sophmore Classic in Phoenix Arizona Oct 2 to 5th

  • 8/15/14 to 8/17/14
  • Our team finished 3rd in the tournament. I did get injured in the first inning of the 2nd game taking a line drive to my chest against team British Columbia. I came back to pitch 4 complete innings in the final round robin game of the tournament against Team Manitoba allowing 0 earned runs and 3 K's. I received an MVP award in one game of the tournament.

  • 8/08/14 to 8/10/14
  • The tournament comprised of 7 teams representing the 7 zones that the province is broken up into. These zones had their own selection camps prior to this event. The teams played a tournament style format and were evaluated for playing talents such as hitting, pitching, fielding and catching. I played shortstop most of the weekend, but also pitched 3 innings during the event. Our zone team won the tournament and I was selected as one of the top 20 players in the province and asked to attend an additional identify camp in 2 weeks time.

  • Lost the Provincial final game. Played shortstop in this game. pitched the semi-final game to max 95 pitches, 7k's, 1 Earned run. 2 outs short of a complete game

  • Lost semi-final game. Pitched the semi-final and lost a close 4-3 game against the 2014 Canadian National Little leauge Champions 14u. 1 earned run, 8 strikeouts

  • The team won the tournament winning 3 straight games. Owen pitched a 3 hit, 1 run complete game in the final

  • This occurred over the winter season of 2013/2014 with Matt Kosteniuk - AAA Saskatoon Midget Diamondback coach. Worked on Physical baseball specific training in January and February. Worked on batting and pitching mechanics in December and March
