Playing baseball from such a young age has made me into the person I am now. Through the
different stages of baseball, coaches and other influential adults have taught me not only how to
be a good athlete, but also to be a good person. Playing baseball has taught me how to be
tougher, and more social. The different coaches I have played with were very real and said what
was on their mind. Dealing with filterless coaches, you learn how to take the criticism and become
tougher through what they say. Playing baseball has also taught me how to be more social
because I played with so many different teams, and coaches that I learned new ways to make
friends and get along with others.
When I was in seventh grade I tried out for my high school C-team, but was cut for being
too small and not strong enough. That pushed me into that next “gear” and taught me I had to
become more serious about the game. After being cut from the team, I started going to the gym and
putting more work in every chance I got. The drive that I got from being cut my seventh-grade
year helped push me to be able to go from one of the lower-level athletes to one of the top.
Now, I am going to the gym five days a week before school work with private
coaches. Then I take what I learned from them and work from home as much as possible.
