I remember sitting behind home plate watching my dad play baseball before I could even play. Often times his teammates would put a batting helmet on me and let me take infield at short stop with them. So before I could even play T-ball I was playing baseball. I was also a successful competitive gymnast and decided to give it up to focus on baseball my sixth grade year. About the same time I was needing a more challenging academic environment, so I transferred schools leaving a highly competitive baseball program behind. Transferring schools in middle school was a turning point for me since the school I was transferring to was starting a baseball program. It was a challenge to think I was going to be part of building something great in a new setting. Now as I begin my junior year, four years later, the school is planning to build its own state of the art baseball facility. We are still looking for our first official varsity win and with a great group of committed guys this is going to be a big year. I now know what it takes as a player, teammate, and team leader as well as the hard work a coach puts in to build a program.
My goal is to continue my baseball career for as long as possible. I thrive with the challenge of improving my skills as a player and student of the game. Baseball has so many opportunities to grow and learn as a player, a coach, and a fan. My passion drives me to work hard and play hard when stepping onto the field. As I begin to look at colleges I am looking for ways to be involved with baseball on and off the field. My hope is to also study sports management while discovering how to get into the analytic side of sports.
