Personal Statement

My collegiate goals and aspirations can be condensed into one sentence.  I want to attend a college or university and graduate with a computer engineering or related degree while helping my school win baseball games.

Being a student-athlete requires being a student first.  I enjoy math, science and history.  So far in high school I have made mostly A’s with a couple of B’s.  Athletically, in high school I participate in football, and baseball.  My freshman year in baseball I was promoted to starting varsity catcher and was named second team all-district as a catcher.  As a sophomore I ended the football season as the starting varsity quarterback and received honorable mention for all-district, and l;ed the team to the playoffs.  Then as a Junior I was named First Team All-District QB,  and in baseball I was the District Defensive MVP. Senior year I was named First Team All District QB plus led my team to a playoff run.  I want my time in college to translate to a degree that leads to a productive career that I enjoy.  I love the competition that athletics brings, and I want to play as long as I can.

I am a competitive baseball player; I push myself to get better through practice and effort.  I also encourage my teammates to strengthen the team.  I play smart baseball.  I anticipate where runners are going and where the ball needs to go.  I enjoy hitting opposite field doubles and throwing baserunners out at second.  I am very coachable.  I want to learn new things that helps me become a better ball player.

My travel team coach preaches attitude and effort throughout every practice and game. I try to display this on every athletic play and incorporate this in my day-to-day life.  I volunteer for a couple of local organizations and through National Honor Society.  I also participate in Alba-Golden High School's student council and I am a member of the bell choir at Mineola Methodist Church.

  • Travis is a C prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame stocky build with strength present and plenty of room to add strength throughout. Primary C, showed active footwork, with an easy sit, and tracks pitches well. Sets up in a low fielding position, with an easy sway, working his thumb under and keeping balls in the zone. Creates good blocking angles, while tucking his chin, and uses his chest to smother the baseball. He gains ground to second base, with clean transfers, and has a quick release. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with a loose arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 79mph with a best pop time of 2.30 seconds. A left-handed hitter, hits from an athletic and square stance. Keeps eyes and shoulders level and keeps his weight between his knees. Has good barrel control with a direct barrel path. Made consistent contact to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 79mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Travis making huge strides on the baseball field.
