Hello from Connor Mondey!
I am a 6”2 175 lb. class of 2024 student at Clear Springs High School in League City, TX. As a freshman, I was the starting Right Fielder, clean-up hitter, and Starting Pitcher on the Sophomore level baseball team. Moving on to my Sophomore season I was moved to run the outfield in center field, still batting 3rd to 5th in the lineup and was a Starter and eventually a closer on the team. I was called up to Varsity to pitch and pinch-run in the playoffs.
My family has been a huge influence for me and helped mold me into the person and player I am today. Without them I wouldn’t have had the opportunities to play and resources to train. I have loved and played many sports in my life thus far, starting with soccer at the age of 3. I had the desire to try and play any sport that allowed me to be a part of a team and move. In addition to baseball, I have played soccer, football, lacrosse, and basketball, with each providing its own lessons of team and sport. I started playing baseball at the age of 4 and it has become my favorite sport because it challenges me in many ways.
Baseball allows me to be my truest self and do what I do best. Baseball has taught me so much about loss and overcoming challenges not only in my own performance, but as a team. I’ve learned that I can work with my team and help us stay positive and to keep trying no matter what the score is, we won’t give up. It is a game that continually changes and forces you to think and make yourself better. I have struggled with ADHD since I was young and baseball not only provided an outlet for my energy, but also helped me learn how to focus, be diligent to persevere, stay strong and push through adversity.
My current GPA in high school is a weighted 4.44 on a 4.0 scale and I intend to push myself to maintain and improve this GPA. I am currently in honors classes, and advanced engineering courses, and my goal is to have as many A’s as possible throughout my high school career. My entire family and extended family place a lot of importance on education, and I have the same goal for myself on a college Level. I am looking for a college that can help me academically succeed and after 4 years be able to graduate with a degree in engineering.
Just a bit on my personal work ethic. Weekly, my workout regimen consists of in school workouts, private workouts with my hitting coach once a week, personal strength & agility trainer 4 days a week focused on dynamic sport training, and twice a week private workouts with my pitching coach on to work on velocity, flexibility, and arm care. I am proud of all the work I put in and feel it is important to work so that I can improve overall as a player towards achieving my near and long-term goals.
In closing, I am proud to share some of my recent personal achievements: Spring of 2022, 6.6s - 60 yd dash, 99mph - running throw, 91mph - Standing OF throw (RF to 3rd/Home), 86mph - Exit Velo off the tee, and 85-87mph - Fastball. I am continuing to set new goals for this upcoming winter & spring and will update those on the site as they occur.
Thank you for your time and interest in getting to know me here and I look forward to hearing from you if you believe I could be a fit for your team and your program.
