Personal Statement

I love the game of baseball, the competition and being a part of a team.  If you were to ask my teammates or coaches about me I hope they'd tell you I was tough, a hard worker, a gamer and competitor, and a selfless teammate that would do anything asked of me to help the team win.

Offensively, I am a left-handed hitter with a contact-driven approach that works gap-to-gap with doubles power, and rarely strikes out.  I have demonstrated an ability to successfully win at-bats against the top pitching in our area, most of whom have signed on or committed to play at the next level.  I am an above-average runner with 6.84 speed in the 60, and sub 4.0 from home to first (live in game), and I am a smart and aggressive baserunner, which is another facet of my game that can help my team win.

Defensively, I offer a lot of versatility as I can catch, play the middle infield, as well as the outfield.  Primarily, I am a catcher, and I take pride in my above average receiving skills.  I want my staff to want to throw to me, knowing I will compete for them to earn every strike we can.  Throwing-wise, I am consistently in the 1.93-2.08 range in game to second base and 1.50-1.66 to third.  While I have average arm strength (74 mph from the crouch), which I am still working to improve, I get rid of the ball very quickly, consistently around 0.65 seconds with video verified sub 0.6 seconds.  As a result, I've thrown out about 2/3 of potential base stealers over the last several seasons.  When I am not behind the plate, I play middle infield and centerfield.   In the infield, I have soft hands and smooth, quick actions and good range to my forehand and backhand.  Due to positional need, I was the starting second baseman for our High School team that finished second in our region last season.  In the outfield, I see the ball well off the bat, take good routes to the ball and have an accurate arm that carries well.

I am consistently working hard to improve.  Just this past summer after my Junior year (summer of 2021) I continued to establish new personal bests across several key categories - 6.84 60-yard, 3.90 home to first, 1.93 pop to 2B, 1.50 pop to 3B.  My hard work and determination extends off the baseball field as well.  I have maintained a 4.11 GPA and am an active member of the student body and in my community.  I host the morning announcements for my high school, am involved in several student leadership organization, and regularly volunteer in my community.  I have challenged myself during my high school career with a very demanding schedule having taken 6 AP courses and 8 honors classes through my Junior year.  Again my Senior year I have challenged myself with 2 honors classes and 4 AP's (and finished the first quarter with a 4.3 GPA).  Its a difficult schedule, but I think it prepares me for the rigor of balancing a college workload with an athletic schedule.  I plan to bring this hard work and determination with me to college and I know whichever school I decide to attend will get a dedicated student athlete, committed to the team and school to work hard to leave the program a better player and person than when I got there.

Please feel free to reach out so we can get to know each other better, and how we can work together to accomplish the goals you have for your program.
