Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me. My name is Alex Bernarding and I am part of the 2017 graduating class at Loudoun Valley High School. Throughout my life, I’ve had the opportunity to be part of a diverse set of cultures. My father works for the Department of State and that has allowed me to transition from school to school and even from country to country. Due to these experiences and transitions I’ve grown into an adaptable individual who welcomes new challenges. One of the transitions I went through was living in Thailand during my 8th grade and freshman year of high school. While living in Thailand I was able to play on a travel team and tournament locations included Singapore, Perth, Jakarta, Shanghai, and Bangkok. I transitioned back to the US during my sophomore year and at barely 5’0” tall I battled hard to be part of the baseball team and was proud to earn a spot as captain of the JV team at Wooton high school. In 2015 I moved to Northern Virginia and had the opportunity to compete for a spot on the Loudoun Valley High School team. Through hard work and perseverance I secured one of only two spots made available to the Junior class. Personally I’ve always wanted to be the best athlete I can be, and this desire has pushed me to train hard during my free time.
In order to succeed at every level you must have something special, or something that sets you apart. I run a 7.1 sec 60 yard dash, with a 27 inch vertical. I am constantly putting in effort to make myself a better player, and improve my statistics. Due to the multiple transitions I have gone through I have learned to be coachable and adapt to the team I am playing for. I have the motivation and skill to be part of a collegiate baseball team, and put in the necessary work to help the team succeed. As I alluded to above, I hit my growth spurt late and have been gaining height and weight since the beginning of my junior year. This means that when you see my stats, I want you to know that I am at the beginning of my physical growth and development curve. To me this demonstrates that at 5’10” and 170lbs I have more growing to do and a great deal of potential yet to be seen.
Accomplishments:
