Personal Statement

My name is Camden Wheatley. I am a senior this year at Toutle Lake High School in Toutle, Washington. I have been playing baseball since I was four years old. Throughout little league and Babe Ruth, I was a seven time All Star and played in the 2016 NW Regionals tournament in West Linn, Oregon.  Last summer, I joined MVP Baseball at the Arizona Jr. Fall Classic. This summer, I will be playing with Lower Columbia Baseball Club based  in Longview, Washington for the second time, on the AAA Legion team.  Last year, I pitched a complete game for LCBC winning their first ever Senior Babe Ruth State Championship. In September, I will be traveling to Florida to play with Baseball Factory where I will also be updating my stats and recording new video.

During my off time from high school baseball,  I will be working to improve my agility, flexibility, speed, pitching and hitting at New Athlete in Vancouver, Washington.  During the school year, I also play basketball and football and am involved with FFA and FCA. My hobbies include hunting and fishing, camping, working on my truck and haying and other odd jobs throughout the summer when time allows. My favorite MLB team is the New York Mets. I like to follow and watch my cousin, Trevor May, and I am very excited to also get to watch my newly drafted cousin, Jackson Cox work his way through the Colorado Rockies minor league. Both are pitchers and I hope to one day follow in their footsteps.

I am a fast learner, very coachable, and eager to develop my skills on and off the field. I am a team leader who models for others kind, respectful behavior, am positive and encouraging to my teammates, and routinely volunteer to show up early or stay late to help coaching staff and teammates prepare and maintain facilities.
