Being a member of a college baseball team is about more than just getting playing time. It is also about giving to the organization and my fellow teammates. As a baseball player, I will contribute my coachability and positive perspective. Some ways I will do this are: giving my best effort and full participation, pushing my teammates to do their best, serving others through community service, and contributing through collaboration. I will be dedicated to improving my baseball skills, and I plan to embrace any challenges or struggles that come my way.
I possess character qualities that will be beneficial to a college baseball team. Several of my life experiences have provided opportunities for me to use and improve my leadership skills. One of the main organizations that helped me to do this was the Boy Scouts of America. As a member, I have had many opportunities to lead younger and older scouts in a variety of activities. From team-building to planning a week-long camping trip and leading a crew of twenty-plus for my Eagle Scout project, I have had great experiences leading others. I worked with a wide range of ages, abilities, and personalities and learned that a leader has to be patient, flexible, and understanding with people.
Another life-long set of experiences that helped me to become well-rounded was participation in sports. I have been involved in athletics since I was very young. I participated in many sports including football, basketball, track, and baseball. However, baseball has always been a constant since I was 3 years old. I’m fortunate to have a friendly and outgoing personality, and sports have always given me a way to use those traits to encourage my teammates to have a positive mindset and try their hardest. I’m looking forward to being able to continue to improve my character, athletic abilities, and leadership qualities while playing college baseball. Thank you, Jacob Archibald

To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Cole Vento, and I am a former College Baseball player, as well as a former High
School Baseball coach at Brookfield East High School. In my time as the Freshman-level head
coach at BEHS, it was always a challenge to get players invested in the game, to show up on
time, and to be what is generally considered a “good” teammate. Jacob Archibald was the most
mature, driven, and knowledgeable player that I had the privilege of coaching. Originally I had
decided to not name team captains for the team, but after observing the way Jacob lead his
peers, the decision was clear he was ready for a leadership role. Summer High School baseball
can be very distracting for 15 year old kids, as they have a lot of other places they need or want
to be. Jacob was always dialed in, asking how he can perform better, and what he needs to do
to excel further. I believe Jacob not only has the skill to perform at the Collegiate level, but has
the demeanor and character needed to be a positive member of whichever team is lucky to
have him. I believe Jacob will be a good fit for a program that values young men of character,
honesty, respect, and values a work ethic necessary for a National Championship. If you have
any questions regarding Jacob as a young man, or as a Baseball player, please feel free to
reach out to me personally.
Regards,
Cole Vento
