Hello, my name is Maya Blanco. Ever since I was little, when my parents took me to football and basketball games, I would always watch the cheerleaders. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to cheer in front of a crowd, representing my school! At a young age, I naturally loved to tumble and did it ALL of the time. I took tumbling classes, ACRO dance classes as well as cheernastic classes. I am still taking tumbling/cheer stunting classes 3 to 4 times a week.
My current tumbling skills are: Standing back hand spring, standing tuck, back hand spring x2, running - roundoff, back hand spring x4, roundoff back hand spring tuck, roundoff back hand spring layout.
I am currently 17 and will be starting my Senior year. I am proud to be on the Capital High Varsity Cheer team as one of the two co-Captains and a main base and one of the few with tumbling skills. As a Freshman, I made it on the Timberline High School Varsity Cheer team as a main base. I started off being the only Freshman on the team. I am so proud of this accomplishment. For my Senior year, my goal is to continue to strengthen my tumbling, be a strong asset to my team, keeping the crowd going and to be a positive role model and helping those around me. I also became a member of the UCA All-American team in July 2025.
Currently, I am the Idaho Youth Advocate for students with disabilities. I attend conferences where I am able to share my story and hopefully help fellow students with disabilities to learn to be a better advocate for themselves. I also really enjoy volunteering at a local Warm Springs Care Farm, where I spend my time being pared with young kids and animals during farm-based therapies for children. I am really excited to see where my education this year, volunteer time, and tumbling focus leads me to being an even better cheerleader and person for my Senior year! Thank you for learning a bit more about me.
