I had never even thought about becoming a cheerleader until I got to middle school. As soon as the cheer team performed at open house, that's what I decided I wanted to do. I worked hard and made the team in 6th grade, and I've been cheering ever since. Being captain in 8th grade was such an amazing experience, and being surrounded by the cheer team is such an amazing reminder of why I started in the first place.
Cheerleading is like a second family to me, I've made so many new friendships that I will never forget. I always try to make cheerleading a positive experience, I crack jokes during practice and try to lift other people's spirits. I'm a perfectionist, I won't stop working on my skills until I deem them perfect enough. It can be tiring, but in the end the reward is worth it all. I'm so glad that I decided to do cheerleading, I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
