Hello, my name is Michelle shining Elk from Pauma band of Luiseño Indians in Southern California; playing Field Hockey for Valley Center High School. Though I've been playing for 3 years I manage to learn fast and bumped my way up to varsity to play CIF Championships my sophomore year. I am super strong with my speed and keeping the ball out of goalies reach, my eyes literally never leave the balls movement. I have a leader mindset within field hockey, rather it be practice or in a game. My communication within a team is always happening since I believe it is an important subject to create a strong bond. I choose to play field hockey as a way of getting away from the negativity within life, when i touch that stick and slap the ball everything goes away. That's why i devote myself to getting better if i can't get that perfect angle or hit, ill use water breaks or rest times to mess around with the ball and to really focus on how to get better within that drill or position. While practicing i don't whine or stop under tiredness, I'll look straight and keep pushing the button because i understand that this what we have to do to be better than we came.
