My name is Emma Winkler and I am a Sophomore at Assumption High School in Louisville, KY. I began playing field hockey when I was six years old and ever since then it has been a huge part of my life and personal development. Throughout the years field hockey has taught me the importance of perseverance, consistency, coachability and leadership.
I believe that there is something to be learned from every coach, teammate and opponent on the field. I've truly leaned the value of being open to constructive criticism, changing strategies, or doing things a new way. I am an adaptable player because of this mindset I have adopted. Every day I strive to embody this adaptability in order to become a better player than the day before.
I am playing on the Assumption Varsity Field Hockey team, starting both of my years on the team. Last year we were able to win the state title year and I was so thrilled to be a part of that team. It has truly been an impactful experience to play with girls who have already been playing at the high school level for several years and who are headed to play at top tier programs soon. Seeing these girls being recruited motivates me to work even harder so that I can achieve that as well. I am currently playing Forward/Midfielder on my high school team as well as my club team, IFHCK. My ultimate goal is to play at the collegiate level. I look forward to exploring various options and hope to find the right school for me both academically and at the highest level of competition possible.
