Hi there,
My name is Emma Hulsmeyer and I am a sophomore at dupont Manual High School in Louisville, KY. I currently play field hockey on my high school JV team as well as my club travel team. I mostly play defender but can also play mid when needed. I have played several sports over the years, including softball, volleyball, lacrosse and field hockey; however, field hockey has always been my all time passion since I started playing the game in second grade. For me, there truly is nothing better than playing on a team with teammates who really understand what it is like to balance the hectic life of an athlete. I have always found comfort knowing my teammates understand the emotions that sometimes overwhelm us as players; the fear of being injured, the pride that comes with scoring a goal, the disappointment of not executing the perfect play and the excitement of winning a championship game. Field hockey is a lesson in developing that internal grit, determination and knowledge about the game and realizing there is always something new to learn or a skill to improve on. The best teammates and supporters are those who are always there to watch you succeed and actually want you to. There is no "I" in team; therefore, I always try to play hard and smart for my teammates, because without them, I can't grow as a player. I consider myself to be a very coachable player...my dad always told be that if you are not willing and able to accept constructive criticism or learn from someone else's mistakes, then chances are you won't ever reach your full potential as an athlete. I may not always be the fastest player on the field, I may not always score a goal, and I may not always execute the perfect aerial… but I can promise, I will always give my best effort when I step on the field. My biggest goal and aspiration is to play field hockey at the collegiate level...I am serious about the game, I understand the game but most importantly, I love the game. I look forward to possibly speaking with you about playing for your team.
Thank you,
Emma Hulsmeyer
