My name is Jordan Drouin, and I’ve been a field hockey player for as long as I can remember. My journey began at age 5 in a small league in Freeport, Maine, where I first played as a forward. However, everything changed when I joined the club MAINE STYX at age 8. It was there that I discovered my true calling as a defensive player, and from that moment on, I never looked back. When I was a sophomore, I made the switch to the Coastal club, where I’ve continued to grow and evolve as a key defensive player. Now, as a junior, I’m set to continue with Coastal in the upcoming winter season. I’m incredibly grateful for the coaching and support at Coastal, which has helped me build both my confidence and my skill set.
In the 2023 season, I achieved one of my proudest accomplishments yet: becoming a starter for the Cheverus High School varsity team. As pre-season began, I felt my love for the game grow even deeper. The competition was fierce, and earning a varsity position required a level of commitment and effort that only fueled my determination. Once I achieved that goal, I set my sights even higher, always aiming to push myself beyond what seemed possible. I’ve learned to stay humble through it all, constantly seeking ways to improve and embracing mistakes as opportunities for growth. This mindset helped me and my teammates reach an incredible milestone—we became Class A state champions.
In 2024 we finished, once again, as the Class A state champions. As our season came to a close, with a 3-1 victory over Brewer, I was incredibly proud of all that we accomplished and how we tackled every challenge together. The friendships and community we’ve built are something I’ll always cherish.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of personal growth within a team. Every individual brings their own unique way of thinking, reacting, and communicating, and being open to those differences is key to our success. My goals as a field hockey player mirror my goals in life: to stay true to who I am, strive to be the best I can be, and remain open to growth and change. I’m eager to continue learning and adapting as I face new challenges, always pushing myself to be my best—both on and off the field.
