Leah’s Personal Statement- NCAA ID is 2110355113
I am a member of the Cedar Creek High School Class of 2024. Being aggressive with my strong work ethic, and always seeking to get better, enabled me to be a Three Year Varsity player and be named captain by my teammates. I have been playing defensive positions of both sweeper and midfield. This season I was voted on by my teammates as one of the team Captains. Last fall and winter I also joined a field hockey league, Small Town Sticks, to help me learn the game and improve my skills.
When I’m not on the field hockey fields, I can be found on the High school’s courts playing Basketball or on the Softball fields in the spring.
Even though sports are my passion, my academics are my first priority. During my freshman and sophomore years I received the High Honor Roll for all of my honors classes along with the Distinguished Varsity Scholar Award. In college, I would like to study Business with maybe a focus on sports management, promotions, or marketing. This direction can help me manage, promote, or market women’s sports by bringing equity to all professional sports. I am excited to have been voted on by all the high school team coaches at Cedar Creek to represent our school at the Title IX 50th year celebration summit on September 18th at Princeton University.
Outside of school and sports, I spend my time with my family and friends. My family is very close and supportive of each other. My twin brother Nathan is my number one fan and I am his. Nathan is my hero !!. Nathan is a high-function autistic student. He never lets anything or anyone get him down. When so many will quit or give up, Nate pushes through. My brother and I have watched our parents teach, mentor, and inspire children and teenagers through teaching and coaching They have always included us in the countless efforts and actions made to help others in our community. My dad has guided us with the positive mindset philosophy of E.A.T. (Effort, Attitude, Tenacity) We apply this to everything in our lives. I hope to spread this positivity to all around me on the fields and off the fields.
