An early turning point in my career as a field hockey player came as a result from an injury which left me inactive for the the winter season of 2015. I always knew how important being a part of a team and playing field hockey in general was to me, but during this time it brought me to this realization that field hockey was an essential pillar to who I am. While I was in the healing process, it became clear to me that I wanted to commit myself into becoming the best student athlete I could be by putting all of my time and effort into focusing on my academics, my skills, and my conditioning.
Before I was cleared to pick up a stick again, my club coach allowed me the opportunity to take a seat on the sidelines as an assistant coach to my own teammates. Watching my fellow teammates play made me realize how much I missed them and the game, and it also brought to my attention what both myself and my team needed to improve on. Once I was cleared to play again and I was embarking on my high school career, I was excited to start the season with my new teammates, knowing the changes I had made to become a stronger, more-grounded, coach-able player will help me be an asset to my team. As I look to being part of a college program, I will continue to grow as a hardworking student, teammate, and leader ensuring success with my future team.
