I first fell in love with field hockey when I discovered it in fourth grade. My mom signed me up for a summer camp at a local high school, when I got there and realized I was the youngest one there by far I was completely terrified, but when one of the seniors came up to nine year old me and walked me out on the field then taught me how to hold the stick and how to hit the ball I was encompassed by a sense of community and belonging, from that moment I was hooked. Each team I have been lucky enough to be a part of has brought those same feelings back to me, I played with the Princeton University U14 club team as a goalie for one season, even though it wasn't the right position for me it is an experience that will forever be important to me, I received one of the best compliments I have ever gotten from my coach there, he said I was very coachable. Continuing to play in high school was the best decision I could have made. That team became my second family, they made the fall my favorite time of the year. When the country was put in lockdown in the spring I got a piece of turf from the hardware store and rolled it out in my living room to practice pulls and dribbling, it was something that made me feel like everything was going to be okay again.
