My whole life I've been surrounded by field hockey, I watched all my cousins become passionate players and my interest grew along their's. My love for the sport really took off once I joined my middle school's team in seventh grade. I saw that I could grow as a team player and an athlete through field hockey and I soon became a valued member of my team. During the summer leading up to my freshman year I attended a Nike camp at Pace University to develop more technically as a player. I was pulled up to my high school's varsity team my freshman year and became the starting keeper, finishing off the season with 119 saves, an M.V.P award, All-League award, and an all section player of the week nomination. I was able to learn from my older cousin and the other girls I had the amazing opportunity to play with and grew as an individual player and a team player. Although my school was small, my team and I worked hard and had a winning record, finishing our season at the sectional semifinals in overtime. This year, my team made it to the number one seed and I left the season with an additional 130 saves, All-Section Award, and All-League Award. This year I've added another 211 with a save percentage of 92%. I was given an all-league and the only all-section award in my league this year, but unfortunately my league was not given an all-state spot.. Outside of my school season I play for the Rye Field Hockey Academy indoor and outdoor club team to develop my skills further, and continue my path toward becoming a better and more refined player. We travel to tournaments across the east coast and compete against teams from all skill levels. This coming summer I plan to attend skill and showcase camps in my area. My goal in field hockey is push myself to my limits in terms of skill and training. I believe that being a team player is the most important part of an athlete, and that is something I try to bring to every team I'm on.
