Dear Coaches,
I have completed my junior year as a defender for South County High School in Lorton, Virginia, where I have been a member of the varsity team for 3 years, and was a starter my sophomore and junior years. I am self-motivated academically and in sports with a strong sense of determination and dedication. This past 2014 season I was recognized and honored to receive the Coaches Award. My team finished second in the Conference and were quarter finalists in the Region. I don't like anything about losing a game except that it makes me work harder, and when successful, can enjoy the sweet taste of revenge. My junior year I was selected for Second Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference. In 2013 I received All Conference Honorable Mention. Outside of my school I play club for the Rampage Field Hockey Program. Through Rampage I was able to compete at higher levels in indoor and outdoor at tournaments such as Festival and the National Indoor Tournament. I also participate in track and field and lacrosse. I started lacrosse my sophomore year of high school and really enjoy the challenge of learning the different techniques of sports in general.
I am interested in playing field hockey at the next level and hope that I can follow that dream. It's funny how as I approach the start of my senior year, and my final season with my high school team that I see how my desire to play in the future has come full circle. It is equally important that I attend a college or university that I would want to be at aside from playing sports. I have not determined my major yet, but have considered English, Mass Communications, or Pre-Law. I have a general understanding of the academic challenges of a post-secondary education and feel that field hockey will only be an additional asset (discipline, organization, and peak physical fitness) as I work towards my future beyond college.
Thank you,
Lia Curci
