Personal Statement
My name is William J. Norman. I am a 5'10", 190 lb. linebacker from Gilroy, Ca. I am a Junior and the starting defensive captain for the Christopher High School varsity football team. I have played football for six years (Pop Warner and High School). Since the first day I strapped on a helmet and pads, I knew this was my sport. I thrive in the team environment and I truly love the game. I believe in working hard both mentally and physically for team goal. My parents have instilled in me the importance of discipline and respect for my coaches and teammates. I have a 3.8 GPA and I am scheduled to take the SAT in June. I am also working with a strength and conditioning coach to improve upon my speed and strength on the field. My goal in high school has always been to play at the next level and I want to realize my dreams!
I am looking for a school where I can find the right balance between the classroom and football field. The “right fit” is important to be successful in academics and athletics. I would like to pursue a college with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of business. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an impact on the team and develop my leadership abilities both on and off the field. Desire, pride, effort, respect and professionalism are all important attributes for a successful student athlete. I believe my best fit would be at the DII or DIII level.
